*Post sponsored by Breeder’s Edge®

It’s a rewarding feeling watching healthy newborn puppies and kittens thrive and grow as they take their first steps and explore their surroundings. The Breeder’s Edge® Newborn Edge for puppies or kittens is a system for success, developed to give puppies and kittens the Edge they need to grow up healthy and strong.
Breeder's Edge Newborn Edge

A Healthy Start

The Newborn Edge starts with protection for a healthy start. When mom’s milk isn’t an option, newborn puppies and kittens need immune system support in the first few days of life. Breeder’s Edge® Nurture Mate™ is rich in colostrum, protein and other beneficial nutrients. Whether you have a large litter or a puppy or kitten that is smaller than the others, Nurture Mate provides newborns the energy boost they need. In addition, giving newborns Breeder’s Edge® Nurture Flora helps minimize the potential for newborn loose stool. Nurture Flora is a probiotic specially formulated for newborn puppies and kittens from birth to three months of age.

Nourishment

Providing puppies and kittens with immunity and nourishment is the next step in giving newborns the Edge. Breeder’s Edge® Foster Care™ Canine and Feline Milk Replacers are an important part of promoting a healthy GI tract. Made with the latest advances in milk replacer formulation, Foster Care is different from other milk replacers. It includes Bio-Mos®, which promotes the growth of good bacteria for a healthy GI tract and Globigen® IC (IgY) to give the immune system a boost. In addition, when it comes time to weaning, Foster Care™ mixed with rice baby cereal makes a great first gruel recipe. If you prefer a goat milk replacer for your puppies and kittens, Breeder’s Edge Foster Care GM, is a nutritionally balanced and complete goat milk replacer for both kittens and puppies.

Hydration

When a young animal is sick with diarrhea or vomiting, maintaining normal fluid balance is critical. That’s why Breeder’s Edge® Puppy Lyte and Kitten Lyte are the next steps of the Newborn Edge. These electrolytes are for puppies and kittens as young as two weeks of age. They contain fast-absorbing dextrose along with amino acids and other minerals including sodium chloride, taurine, calcium and potassium. Getting a sick puppy or kitten to drink can be challenging, but these electrolytes taste like chicken soup so they appeal to even sick animals.

Keep Them Clean

The whelping process is messy. Newborns are messy. The next part of the Newborn Edge is the Breeder’s Edge® Repeat Pad™. This pad fits in most whelping boxes so when the newborns nurse, they can have a clean, dry and super-soft surface with traction. And since Repeat Pads™ are washable, one of these pads can replace approximately 300 disposable pads, which is good for your wallet and the environment.

Umbilical Cord Care

Proper umbilical cord care is important for a newborns health. The Breeder’s Edge® Clean Cut Family Bundle has the umbilical cord care products you’ll need.  Non-staining iodine, scissors, umbilical clamps and an umbilical forceps. Sold as a bundle or individually so you can get what you need and keep your newborns healthy.

Identification

The final part of the Newborn Edge are Breeder’s Edge® ID Me™ Collars. No more using nail polish or food coloring to keep track of newborns. These collars are washable and reusable and won’t scratch or injury delicate newborn skin. The products that make up the Newborn Edge work best when they work together… like a system. Since 2008, pet owners have turned to and trusted Breeder’s Edge® products. Our goal is that with the Newborn Edge system for success, pet owners can more easily navigate what products to use and when.
