Silver sulfadiazine 1%
Store at room temperature 59°-86°F (15°-30°C).
Silver Sulfadiazine 1% Cream is a topical medication formulated to help manage bacterial infections of the skin in animals. It is commonly used for wounds, burns, and superficial skin infections caused by susceptible bacteria. The combination of silver and sulfadiazine provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity to help control microbial growth and support the healing process.
This cream is applied directly to the affected area, allowing targeted treatment of the skin while minimizing systemic exposure. Regular application under veterinary guidance helps maintain a clean and protected wound environment.
Silver Sulfadiazine 1% Cream should be used according to a veterinarian's instructions, with care taken to follow dosing frequency and duration to ensure safe and effective treatment of skin conditions in dogs, cats, and horses.
Use with caution in patients that are hypersensitive to sulfonamides, as they may also react to SSD. Patients with significant hepatic or renal dysfunction have increased risk for drug accumulation, particularly when used over large areas. Because SSD can impair granulation, avoid use in non-granulated wounds. Avoid contact with eyes. Wear gloves or wash hands after applying. Do not let animals lick or chew at affected areas for at least 20 to 30 minutes after application.
Adverse effects of systemic sulfonamides are possible, such as blood dyscrasias and keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS). Use over large areas or use for extended durations can increase the risk for systemic adverse effects.
Disposal of Unused Prescription Medications
- Return unwanted or unused medications to Revival Animal Health in person, or visit www.disposemymeds.org to find a pharmacy near you.
- A secondary method of drug disposal is to remove the unwanted medication from any wrappers or containers and place it in a plastic bag with moist coffee grounds or cat litter. This can be disposed of in the regular garbage collection.
- Please do NOT dispose of unwanted meds down the drain or toilet, as this may eventually find its way into the human water supply.

Disposal of Medical Sharps
- When you're finished with the syringe and needle, do not try to recap, remove, bend or break the needle. This is where most injuries occur.
- Dispose the syringe and needle immediately in a nearby sharps container. All sharps must be deposited in a puncture-proof container. Make sure your storage location is child and animal proof.
- As with all product handling, make sure you wash your hands after handling medical sharps.
Disposal of Sharps Container
- When your sharps container is half-full, sift dry Portland Cement throughout the sharps. Fill the container with water, and rotate until the cement is mixed and the sharps have been distributed throughout the cement mixture. Let cement dry for 24 hours.
- Seal the lid of the container tightly and use duct tape to seal. Label the container "Livestock Sharps" to properly identify the contents.
- Dispose of the containers in accordance with your state's regulations.
