Our Fluvac Innovator® 5-way equine shot offers comprehensive protection to help protect horses from five common equine diseases, including:
- Eastern equine encephalomyelitis (EEE): Known as sleeping sickness, EEE can cause neurological issues in horses. Caused by infected mosquito bites, this serious and potentially fatal condition requires support to manage symptoms and fight the infection.
- Western equine encephalomyelitis (WEE): Vaccination is the most effective way to avoid WEE, another mosquito-borne viral disease that can be transmitted to horses. Our 5-way horse vaccine helps avoid symptoms such as fever, lack of coordination or brain and spinal cord issues.
- Equine rhinopneumonitis (EHV-1 and EHV-4): EHV-1 and EHV-4 are highly contagious and most commonly spread from nose-to-nose contact and contaminated objects such as feeding buckets, grooming equipment or tack. Vaccinations can help horses build immunity or antibodies against symptoms, including respiratory illnesses, neurological diseases or reproductive issues.
- A2 equine influenza virus (EIV): Each 5-way vaccine for horses offers protection from EIV, a highly contagious respiratory disease with flu-like symptoms that spreads through direct and indirect contact with infected horses, including coughing. The virus can survive on surfaces such as brushes, buckets and shared stalls. Management of secondary bacterial infections and supportive care are required following exposure to unvaccinated horses.
- Tetanus: The Clostridium tetani bacterium, most commonly found in soil, can enter a horse's body through wounds. Once inside, the bacteria can cause a neurotoxin that causes stiffness and muscle spasms. Veterinarians, breeders and horse owners can administer vaccinations to avoid the neurological disease.
