How to Care For a New Puppy

There is such excitement when you have a new little puppy in your life. But you aren’t the only one adjusting your life. The puppy is adjusting to life with you.

Many times you will find a new puppy crying and missing his litter mates or momma. Something that can help with this is to bring articles of clothing or a favorite toy from where he came from. This type of item will be soothing to him. Also, a piece of your very own clothing might help him when you have to leave the house in the future.

Oftentimes, when a puppy moves to a new house, they don’t eat very much at a time. This is not concerning. It is better for the little ones to eat every two hours or until full and not to overeat and bloat. You don’t want him looking like a basketball, more of a football look.

Mixing wet and dry food is good. In addition, Doc Roy’s® Forti Cal is an ideal product for new puppies. It is a high calorie energy supplement that he will lick right off your finger or you can try putting some on his lil’ paw. It’s also a good idea to make sure to keep the good bacteria in his gut, up, up, UP! You can do this by giving Doc Roy’s® GI Synbiotics. It contains both probiotics and prebiotics and carries the bad bacteria out of the GI tract.

Your new puppy is very thankful to have someone caring for him. If you have any questions, call us at 800.786.4751. We are always happy to help!
