What is the best way to trim a young kittens nails? Hi, I'm Doctor Marty Greer, Director of Veterinary Services with Revival Animal Health. First, find a delicious treat that keeps your kitten focused - like chicken baby food or whipped topping on a spoon. Next, work in an area with great lighting and with your kitten on an elevated but non-slip surface so they hold still better. Then be sure to use a great nail clipper with sharp blades so you cut, not squeeze the nail. Having an assistant makes it much easier. And most importantly, have some styptic powder such as Kwik Stop available in case your kitten zigs when you zag and nick a nail a bit too short. Having an assistant makes it much easier. Was this helpful? We'd love your feedback!
