The Botupharma Extender Test Kit helps stallion owners and veterinarians identify the most effective semen extender for each individual stallion. Because semen quality and cooling tolerance vary, testing multiple formulations allows for a stallion-specific approach to semen handling. This kit includes five proven Botupharma extenders to support motility, membrane stability, and fertility during cooling, transport, and insemination.
BotuSemen Standard
A dependable milk-based extender suitable for most stallions, ideal for routine cooled semen transport, fresh insemination, and use during centrifugation or freezing protocols.
BotuSemen Special
Formulated for stallions with poor cooling tolerance, this extender contains added cholesterol and essential lipids to protect the sperm membrane during cooling.
BotuSemen Gold
A casein-based extender with cholesterol designed for stallions prone to premature sperm capacitation, supporting membrane protection and fertility during cooled semen storage.
BotuSemen KZ
A casein-based, universal extender comparable to INRA 96, suitable for a wide range of stallions and commonly used for cooling, transport, and centrifugation in freezing protocols.
BotuTurbo
A milk-based extender containing pentoxifylline to enhance sperm energy and motility, ideal for low-motility samples or use at shipping to boost sperm movement prior to insemination.
Cautions: Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Storage: After mixing the contents of the sachet with sterile water, store it at 2 to 8°C (35.6 to 46.4°F) for up to 3 days.
Botusemen Standard Composition: UHT sterilized skim milk powder, sugars, amino acids, antioxidants, and excipients.
Botusemen Gold Composition: Casein, sugars, amino acids, antioxidants, cholesterol, and excipients.
Botusemen Special Composition: UHT sterilized skim milk powder, sugars, amino acids, antioxidants, cholesterol, and excipients.
Botuturbo Composition: UHT sterilized skim milk powder, sugars, amino acids, antioxidants, pentoxifylline, and excipients.
How to Prepare Botusemen Standard, Botusemen Special, Botusemen Turbo: Add the sachet’s content to the sterile water and shake well.
How to use Botusemen Standard, Botusemen Special, Botusemen Turbo: For cooled transport, semen should be refrigerated at 5 °C (41 °F). The minimum dilution rate for preserving sperm motility during storage is 2 parts extender to 1 part semen, aiming for a final sperm concentration of 30 to 50 million total sperm per mL.
How to Prepare Botusemen Gold: Add the entire envelope contents to the bottle containing 100 mL of distilled water. Shake well. Place the bottle in a water bath at 37°C for 30 minutes and shake again until complete homogenization. After semen dilution, wait 15 minutes to allow the active ingredients to interact with the sperm membrane.
Important: In cases where centrifugation before the cooling process is necessary, resuspend the sperm pellet at a final concentration of 100 million total sperm per mL.
