Breeder's Edge^® Clean Cut™ Povidone-Iodine 10% Antiseptic Solution is for use on the newborn kitten and puppy umbilical cord area.

What Do You Put on Puppies and Kittens Umbilical Cords?
You should put Clean Cut™ Povidone-Iodine 10% Antiseptic Solution on puppies and kittens umbilical cords because iodine seals and protects from bacterial infections and helps the cord dry up and fall off faster. This non-staining iodine formula will not cause discoloration on light colored fur or skin. Iodine for puppies and kittens deters moms from licking and biting at the umbilical cord area. Doing a navel dip as part of kitten and puppy umbilical cord care can help reduce the risk of common navel issues including: wet navels, navel infections (sepsis) and kitten and puppy umbilical cord hernias.

This iodine for cats and dogs can also be used on minor cuts, scrapes and incisions. Povidone iodine for dogs and cats helps protect from bacteria until the area is healed.

Do not use: in the eyes, over large areas of the body or if you or your pet has an allergy to povidone-iodine or any of the other ingredients in this product.

Storage: Avoid excessive heat. Store at room temperature 59° to 86°F (15° to 30°C)

Directions: Wrap the puppy in a clean dry towel. Once the cord has been cut and bleeding has stopped, turn the newborn belly down, place the bottle opening over the umbilical cord area. Gently press the bottle opening against the belly of the newborn to create a seal. Tip the newborn over, belly up while holding the bottle opening firmly against the newborn. Tip the bottle and the newborn back over belly down, wait about 15-20 seconds remove the bottle opening from the area. Wait 20-30 seconds for the solution to dry. When the area is dry return the newborn to mom.

Dispose of remaining bottle and leftover contents after each litter.

When using on minor cuts and scratches, use a clean cotton tipped applicator with each use.
