Pies for Pups 2020

The fourth annual Pies for Pups fundraiser was held March 13, 2020 at the Fareway grocery store in Orange City, IA. The event raised $3,038 for Partners for Patriots, an area nonprofit that trains and provides service dogs to veterans free of charge. The event was coordinated by employees of Revival Animal Health. More than 120 pies and baked goods were donated and sold by Revival employees, friends of Partners for Patriots, and community members. Since Partners for Patriots is a volunteer-run organization and provides training at no cost to the veterans, the organization relies heavily on fundraising. “The money raised helps pays for veterinary costs, the salary of our trainer and our utility costs. We get puppies donated to us and have Puppy Raisers who take care of the puppies. Those dogs are then trained on the specific needs of a specific veteran. We do all of this at no cost to the veteran.” Gerry Holtrop, spokesman for Partners for Patriots. Revival employee Shelley Hexom is one of the event’s chief organizers. “Pies for Pups has become such a fun and tasty annual event. It’s great to see the Revival staff and other local bakers donate their time and pie baking skills for such a great cause.  And of course, the overwhelming response from the community to come out and buy the pies is absolutely amazing. This year we sold more pies and baked goods than in any of our previous years! Being able to support a local nonprofit such as Partners for Patriots in this way is such a blessing,” Hexom said.
