Purchased for use next winter but decided to test it first. Very disappointing. Packaging states unit offers 'up to 12 hours of heat' I found it was barely warm after 7-8 hours. To contain the heat I wrapped it in a towel and then tried again using a cotton bath mat - same results.

This is the second time I've gotten these warmers. My previous purchase was quite a few years ago. These are perfect for "bottle babies".

Pros:
  • Soft when warm
  • squared shape
Cons:
  • Can't disinfect
I've used this heat pad for years when caring for both newborn and older sick kittens. I like how it stays "soft" for a good while and more like a gel pack vs microwaveable discs. Kittens seem to prefer it based on my trials. Also like the shape- easier than a disc when using in a crate. The only downside is it cannot be truly disinfected so I wrap it in a plastic bag and hand towel to keep it clean. Never had any puncture issues.
Perfect for Newborn Puppies

We used this warmer when we had a litter of 5 tiny puppies. It stayed warm for 6 or more hours, including overnight. The puppies would actually migrate to it when they needed extra warmth. So much easier than a heating pad!
