We raise somewhere around 20 litters of beagle puppies a year and we tried this for the first time October 2011. We hesitated because of the price and we thought we were having good luck with the brand that we have used for the past ten years. Boy were we wrong. We have not had any diarrhea or hair problems. The puppies are fatter healthier and more active. We started the one litter on the other brand and I honestly thought we were going to lose them all so I switched and two days later they were all doing well and growing ever since. Do not be afraid to pay the price and order it now. It might be an extra 10 bucks but isn't your puppies worth it?

Pros:

Cons:
  • constipation
It is an acceptable milk replacer, but does tend to firm up the stools too much. My puppies got constipated and we had to give them mineral oil.

I have been using Breeders's Edge Foster Care milk replacer since it was first introduced. I usually order the Feline Milk Replacer over the KMR as the neonates I foster from newborn without moms do much better. There is less tendency to have constipation or diarrhea. I did an experiment this year since I have also been bottle raising orphaned pups. I have used the Canine Milk Replacer for both and have found there isn't any difference in growth or survival rate. I love how the powder mixes so easily without lumps. I do, however, use more water to the powder to keep from the constipation problems. I only wish it could be less expensive for rescue organizations, especially if you are going through nearly 70# of formula in a season; and this is from one who is just fostering! Thank you, Revival Animal Health for your research and willingness to take feedback on your product.

Best canine milk replacer I have found. Great for dams, too, to aid in milk production. They love the flavor.

I have used this product on several litters of Labrador Retriever puppies. The puppies like it and do very well on it. It is also useful to add to the Dam's food to boost her caloric intake. I highly recommend it to use for weaning puppies.
