Petmate Vari Kennel (12429-Z)
Would prefer this product if it was a color that would not show dirt as much. It is very hard to even wash these as marks do not wash off. too light.
Meets the need for a reliable plastic crate to ship a puppy. Roomy, easy to put together
Meeting airline requirements for shipping:
Generally speaking this is the best buy for a breeder when bought by the case. I like the light weight, and the slot for a seat belt in the car to secure the crate on the way to the airport. What I don't like is that the holes in the two front corners never line up accurately and I always have to redrill new holes in order to get the screw and the bolt cap to tighten up - which is an airline requirement. You would think whoever is manufacturing these would already know there is this defect - but for the second time I got a new shipment with the identical same issue. I redrill and ship them anyway because I don't have time to deal with the cumbersome warranty process with Revival Animal.
Really, really wish there was a size in between the 19" a 24". As a breeder shipping kittens, thanks to the ignorance of the airlines about cats and their need to hide in times of stress, I am forced to use the 24" carrier for 4# kittens. This not only makes the kitten insecure, but it adds more than $50 to the shipping cost!
no dish and thin/cheap plastic
Very sad to see Petmate change their good model to this. Still compliant, and the screws are a plus for some airlines that require it. Construction is very poor, and the plastic which makes up the body of this carrier is now a lot thinner and flimsier than it has been in the past. I guess the addition of the screws required some losses to us, so NO MORE FOOOD AND WATER DISH, which effectively means if you are shipping, you have to buy their airline kit, which is an additional expense. Better option is Ruff Maxx carrier. Strangely also made by Petmate. Better price as well, and provides the dish.
