Environmental Allergies

Environmental allergies typically occur between the age of 1-3 years old and the itching can occur anywhere on the body. Environmental allergies happen because of what surrounds the animal. Pollen is the most common airborne allergy and can travel up to 100 miles.

Topical Treatment:

You can manage environmental allergies with these products:

  • Doc Roy's® RESCUE DERM is a great product for those sensitive irritated areas like the face, it is safe to use around the eyes, vaginal area, and between the pads of the feet.
  • Pramoxine Anti-itch spray and shampoo helps stop the itch topically. Pramoxine Shampoo twice a week gets the pollen off the skin and use Pramoxine Spray daily on any area needed extra attention.

Treatment from the inside out:

Vetadryl and TRI OMEGA 3 don’t have the side effects of prescription Prednisone.

Treatment for Bacterial and/or Fungal Infections

If excessive scratching of the itch causes bacterial and/or fungal infection, a combination of antibiotics and antifungals are needed to cure.

The antibiotics and antifungals may be needed for 30 days to eliminate the infection and allow the skin to recover.

We can’t eliminate allergens but if we keep the allergens off the skin and the resistance to them high, we can live with them!
