I'm writing this on March 22, 2013- I purchased my Tri-Tronics Sport Basic G3 EXP plus extra receiver collar on August 8, 2012, so I've had this for over 7 months. Prior to this purchase I had an Innotek that I had bought from a large chain pet store in my area. Besides being cheap feeling, they (I bought a two collar unit) both died within a few months. My complaints to Innotek fell on deaf ears, so needless to say I decided to go with a different manufacturer this time. I have been SO pleased with these collars. I used them perhaps a total of 2 hours a day when I let my dogs out to exercise- the collars prevent them from barking at the squirrels- I want to be a good neighbor after all, and don't want my dogs to be a noise nuisance. Between outings the collars come off and are turned off. Using them this way, I only have to charge them about every 3 weeks. So far I've had no problem with the transmitter- the battery is still going strong. The transmit range is great. The collars and transmitter seem hefty and well made. Just a couple of use comments- when turning the collar on, make sure to listen for the double beep. It is possible to press the button and have the LED flash, but it is not actually on until you hear the double beep. Likewise, make sure to wait for the long beep to know that the collar has been properly turned off. I would highly recommend this product if you want to invest in a product that will do what it says it will, and last.
