After last year’s annual checkup, the vet showed me how covered in plaque our Sheltie’s (Sadie) teeth were and recommended getting them cleaned, for which they had to sedate Sadie. They had trouble getting the IV in and then trouble getting her awake, and Sadie limped for a couple of weeks, and needed a special wrap over the place they had shaved to insert the IV. Pathetic. So when I saw this product, and the ratings from others, I decided to try it.
Bottom line, Sadie has beautiful white teeth, all the way to the back of her mouth just from the gel, with no brushing. She will let me put some on my finger, and just insert it on one side or the other of her mouth without too much fuss. I started about 6 months after the professional cleaning, and her teeth were already getting yellow. In less than 4 weeks her teeth were white and have stayed that way. I use it probably 4-5 days per week, following the directions. If I have forgotten it for a day or two, I’ll use it both morning and night on the day I remember. Sadie seems to accept the salmon flavored gel a bit more than the mint. Her breath is always good, too, as a result of the gel.
