FRONTLINE Plus for Cats

  • Frontline® Plus stops flea infestations on cats and kittens
  • Prevents all flea stages from developing
  • Kills many ticks that may transmit disease
  • Provides complete protection for 30 days

Frontline® Plus for Cats provides long-lasting protection against fleas, ticks and chewing lice for 30 days. It contains Fipronil and (S)-methoprene, two powerful ingredients for preventing infestations. Fipronil goes to work immediately to start killing adult fleas and ticks and (S)-methoprene, an Insect Growth Regular (IGR), attacks eggs and larvae breaking the flea and tick life cycle. Frontline® Plus for Cats kills deer ticks (which may carry Lyme disease), brown dog ticks, American dog ticks, and lone star ticks and rapidly eliminates chewing lice. The waterproof formula stays active even after bathing. Safe for breeding, pregnant or lactating cats. For use on cats eight weeks and older.
For external use on cats and kittens over eight weeks of age and over only. Not for human use.

Product Reviews
Read and follow the directions. You have to understand how a flea infestation works.

Here's the deal, Frontline works in situations with indoor pets and is not a poison to your cats like so many of the other over the counter meds. I know a few vets and have had long discussions on the topic. They have told me to NEVER use the flea shampoos for one. They recommend keeping your cats indoors and using Frontline. I was like the people that don't understand how to work with it. It's still a great product but not the ultimate product - there is no such thing. If you have an indoor / outdoor animal - good luck with ANY product. Fleas are found in nature and the animal will of course continue to get re-infested. I have found yards where just walking around you get fleas on you and flea bites.

If you have indoor animals, it works wonderful. BUT you have to do some serious house cleaning. Fleas lay eggs that drop off animals around your home. You have to apply Frontline and then clean house. Clean their bedding, your furniture, anywhere they lay, etc. You then need to vacuum daily for the next 2-3 months while reapplying every 30 days. IF you do that the infestation will be gone in about 2-3 weeks but you need to keep it up to get the last of them because you will never clean up all the eggs.

My vet recommended Frontline for my 5 cats to kill fleas. Revival Animal Health had good pricing. Revival gave great service, the order was processed and received very quickly. Revival lists expiration dates on their website for many of their products/drugs, which is helpful.
Ticks, BEWARE!!
Late this summer I purchased another flea repellent product. After I applied it, I started noticing ticks on my indoor/outdoor cats. Not fun to pull a tick off a cat. I started wondering why I never had this problem before....then I discovered that the other stuff I bought did not repel ticks!!! Immediately back to Frontline Plus....and NO MORE TICKS!!

We have 35 to over 60 dogs and puppies here at any given time. I have used the Frontline product almost exclusively, including the spray for pups that come in sick and flea infested. I consider this product excellent.

I read a disapointed review who wants to give a "0" rating because it "did not work for her cats." If your house or yard is overrun with fleas of course your pets will be bringing in the fleas from outside OR be attacked by the fleas in the house. After they bite the pet they will die as the product claims.

In her case, she needs to de-flea her house properly and I would suggest spraying or using a product to also use in the lawn that is safe for her pets too.

We have had over 1000 dogs in the rescue and most at our home, plus we were breeders before going into "all breed type" rescue. We also had two personal cats who since died of old age. The only time I don't use Frontline is when we have a pet with flea allergies (I use Comfortus then as recommended by our vet) or when I have donated product from a manufacturer or from a Project supporter.

A new product claims to "repel" fleas but if you have a flea infested house or yard, I question if any product will "fully repel" the aggressive parasites.

I live in Southern Missouri where fleas are a problem year round.
