When and how long should I continue to supplement with Healthy Bones?
You should use Healthy Bones during the fast growth phase of puppies to assure solid bones. Another use is during healing from bone fractures and for dogs that do not eat dog food. Another critical time that it is needed is the nursing phase for mom, so she can pull less Calcium out of her bones and manage the milk demand for calcium easier. Do not use before birth!

I understand that too much calcium is extremely detrimental to bone growth development, is that correct?
Yes and No! If you are imbalance with the 2:1 calcium to phosphorus ratio, then you make the deficiency worse. That calcium to phosphorus balance with Vitamins D and C is critical to correcting issues.

Do I need to supplement my small dog with Healthy Bones?
Size is not the issue - fast growth is. Tiny dogs in the fast growth phase often have soft bone issues and stress fractures. That is especially true of the find bone, long leg breeds. Healthy Bones will assure adequate calcium strength is laid down as the bone grows.

I have been assured that the food I am feeding my dog is nutritionally complete. Why do I need to supplement with Healthy Bones?
Insurance against issues. The average is OK with diet along with 50% OK and 50% not enough. With time, if these puppies do not get stress fractures, they will lay the calcium they need if the diet has it. If they don't have it, they will have crooked legs (bowed) and stress fractures. Healthy Bones just assures plenty of building blocks for any dogs that need calcium for growth and demand.

Yes, but only if they need to be treated for osteoporosis or a fracture in an old dog. I sometimes use in dogs that are geriatric and poor eaters.

Can taking calcium during pregnancy cause my pet's body to reduce calcium production?
NEVER supplement calcium during pregnancy!! Very little is needed until the last 2 weeks as the embryo is small and moms need to "gear up" for the high calcium demand of labor and milking. After the birth process has started, supplementation is good and mom will regulate the minute to minute needs from her bone stores.
